Friday Five: Baby it's Cold Out Edition!

Greeting from  Artic Circle Hoboken.  Baby, it's cold outside.

Continuing with my Friday Five Series, here's five ways to stay motivated to workout and be active during the cold, winter months.

Today I walked ten minutes to a meeting here in town and my face was numb.  I has all bundled up, but holy cow it's freezing out. So here's some ideas to keep you (and me) inspired and moving.

1. Plan your Workouts.

Just like any other commitment, mark it on your calendar.
Take time for yourself when you can, even just 30 minutes
broken up into ten minutes at a time.   Knock it out.

 2. Fitness Friends.

Partner up with someone and do it together.
It's so much better than exercising alone.

3. Try a New Workout.

Too cold to leave your house?...I know, it takes me 5 minutes just to get all my gear on.
Try a new online workout, rent a DVD from the library, or swap one with a friend
and stay fit and cozy in the comfort of your own home.

4. Keep it Simple.

Be active, do something you enjoy. walking, dancing, yoga, zumba.
You'll be more likely to stick to it if you actually like doing it.

5.  Be an example to your family.

At this point in January, you might be feeling a little sluggish
and ready to sit on the couch.  Show yourself and your family
you're making it happen.  Make time for yourself and your health.
Treat yourself to a fun smoothie when your finished.

And don't forget to hang out and have fun!

Wishing you a weekend filled with lots of fun, healthy activities.
Enjoy!
