Superbowl Burn

Well, what did you think about the Super Bowl last night? I hope you all had fun watching and eating some good food.

Congrats to both teams for really giving us a good game to watch.  I scored my own winning touchdown yesterday during my workout.

I participated in a wonderful fitness class at Work It Out in Hoboken.  It was called the 'Super Bowl Burn' and took place before all the tailgating, Beyonce booty shaking and parties got under way.

I was excited to switch up my workouts and try something different.  Change is good.  Once my healthy vegetarian chili was in the crock pot, I was off and running to the gym.

three bean chili with shredded sweet potato on top...melts right in.
yes, recipe will be posted soon,
I know you're hungry.

I got my game on, watered up and as soon as the warm up started, I was pumped.  The instructor, Kara is so spirited and energetic.  Her talent and contagious energy shines in everything she does, and she makes people feel so welcome and comfortable.   She really got us moving and motivated from the second we entered the room. Game was on...

Cheryl, the other referee, taught the spin portion of the workout and a total miracle happened.  For the first time in my life, I actually enjoyed a spin class.  Gulp! I need to start taking my own advice and keep trying new instructors, because Cheryl really made it fun!  I usually feel trapped on the bike and want to run out of the room saying 'no thanks'.  However, this was a totally different experience, she kept us moving in and out of the seat, changing our hand positions, had the music blaring and our hearts pumping.

Both instructors, really planned out the event well and were even sporting some Super Bowl approved costumes...my two favorite referees!

Kara, me and Cheryl

The class was broken up into three segments, a challenging obstacle course warm up, followed by a coin toss...(we have a theme here people) to see which team was to head to the spinning room first.  Then while one group was in spinning, the others were focusing on strength training and more cardio.  And the grand finally...some fun football challenges..a few light and competitive games at the end...tug of war, plank holds and 49 push ups for the 49ers-ouch...my arms are still screaming!

If you're in the mood to switch things up and try a new workout, give Work It Out a try.  These ladies really do such a great job thinking outside the box.  Their creative classes and energy make you walk out of there feeling like a champ.

Well done, Work It Out.  Thanks for another top notch event.  You really shine.

How will you jazz up your own workouts this week? Maybe try a new class in your area and get inspired!!

Change is so good....and healthy!
Have a wonderful week everyone.
